There is not a shadow of doubt that many horrible wars were fought in the past in the name of religion or a pertinent ideology. But no religion preaches violence and killing of innocent civilians in dastardly acts of terrorism. But it is the misguided followers who resort to violent actions to kill guiltless people by misinterpreting true religious doctrines and seek out of context references in religious scriptures to justify their unjust actions while turning a blind eye towards the crystal clear verses that preach tolerance, fraternity, justice, self-sacrifice and peace. The violence must be determined in framework of its use. The countries that launch unwarranted wars on other nations use brutal force in their unjust acts of naked aggression that is totally inexcusable while the natives of the assaulted country also use violent means to resist this fierce battering to safeguard their national sovereignty that is totally justified. Mao Zedong (1893–1976), Chinese statesman said in “Problems of War and Strategy" (November 6, 1938), “We are advocates of the abolition of war, we do not want war; but war can only be abolished through war, and in order to get rid of the gun it is necessary to take up the gun.”1

Majority of the countries who participated in the two horrible world wars were Christians or Communists. Almost all the colonial powers were the followers of Christianity. Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini who inflicted Holocaust was a Christian. Majority of the population of America that dropped nukes on beautiful cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima harbors population following Christianity. President Roosevelt that permitted such horrible actions against a civilian population was also Christian.
According to Encarta Dictionary Christian means kind and unselfish. But ironically majority of the rulers of the countries that project themselves as custodians of this prophetic religion are neither kind nor unselfish. Joseph Stalin started his studies at a seminary because he was the devout believer of Orthodox Christianity. He became aware of the revolutionary ideas after reading works of German political philosopher Karl Marx. In 1899 he gave up his religious education when he was about to graduate and devoted himself to radical activities against Russian Monarchy. He followed communist ideology that is theoretical a classless political system. In order to kill his potential opponents he used services of the NKVD that was a predecessor agency of the KGB to carry out Great Terror or Great Purge that led to killing of about one million people. Leon Trotsky (1879–1940), Russian revolutionary, 1924, said in Terrorism and Communism (1920), “The dictatorship of the Communist Party is maintained by recourse to every form of violence.”2

European Union and United States of America are Christian blocs to economically exploit resources of the world. They have adopted policy of neocolonialism to suck resources of the world in a sophisticated way. They have devised an economic system that is based on materialism, selfishness and exploitation. George W Bush is an evangelical Christian but he has waged unjust wars on Afghanistan and Iraq by following his warmonger pre-emptive doctrine. Suicide bombings in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq are the repercussions of this brutal anticipatory doctrine. But ironically the above mentioned followers of Christianity were neither kind nor unselfish that does not mean that there was any flaw in the true teachings of Christianity. It is an open secret that the followers of this prophetic religion have brought many changes in it or have thrown the religion to the backburner by adopting secularism. It also bears out that there is nothing in secularism that teaches tolerance or humanity.
In Lebanon several suicide bombing incidents were commenced by the Lebanese Christians. The LTTE and its violent faction components known as Black Tigers are extremist Hindus. They are fighting against Sri Lankan government to establish an independent Tamil state. The Sinhalese that hold the bridles of power in this peninsula are Buddhists. The numbers of suicide bombings carried out by the Black Tigers are greater than the combined digits of such attacks commenced by Hamas and Hezbollah against the power intoxicated Israeli forces and their western patrons. The PKKs ideology was established on radical Marxism-Leninism and Kurdish nationalism. The PKK fighters, who use suicide bombings against the Turkish forces, are ethnically engrossed Kurds who are ambitious to establish an autonomous socialist Kurdish state by incorporating parts of southeastern Turkey, northeastern Iraq, northeastern Syria and northwestern Iran.

If during war an army personnel jumps out of his dig and attack the heavy contingent of army belonging to an adversarial country that unjustly assaulted his country despite having awareness that he is bound to die what you call it? Bravery or suicide? Any person who participates in war knows that he is highly prone to be killed or deadly injured. But despite having awareness he participates in the war. Is it not effort of self-destruction? All nations award highest military awards to these people who die in the battlefield while defending their country. But if a soldier brutally torture innocent civilians of the adversarial country then he is totally unjustified and even condemned by his own nation and sometimes court-martialed by his own country for violating established norms of war. Therefore, self-immolation must be seen in context of its use. Lebanese Ayatollah Morteza Mutaharri fittingly described, “Civilization does not mean that you face a rocket with a stick or a jetfighter with a kite, or a warship with a sailboat…One must face force with equal or superior force. If it is legitimate to defend self and land and destiny, then all means of self-defense are legitimate.”3

Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad that are alleged to be involved in suicide bombings are the byproducts of Israeli and western atrocities. The Jewish state having hegemonic and expansionist designs with a dream of establishing Greater Israel is still engaged in its brutal actions to crush the natives. Israel has butchered thousands of innocent indigenous people since its transgressive birth. What can they expect in retaliation? Does blood of the Israeli Jews is more costly than the Palestinian Muslims? History bears testimony that the Christians and the Jews were at daggers drawn in the past but now they are hand in glove with each other to crush the Muslims.

However, it is an open secret that members of al-Qaeda were recruited, transported, trained, funded and equipped by the CIA to accomplish American agendas. Now it is using them as phantom enemies in their contemporary so-called War on Terrorism. The current morass forecast that Uncle Sam would use them in the future as scapegoats to intimidate and attack different Muslim countries of the world to tap their resources. Al-Qaeda and its head Osama Bin Laden did no service to Islam. Its alleged involvement in different terrorist activities to kill civilians has only tarnished Image of Islam in the comity of nations. These untoward activities have only created barriers in the way of spreading Islam. It has been serving American concerns rather than fighting for promotion of Islam.
Thus we see that suicide bombers in different parts of the world have different ideological and religious affiliations. In majority of the cases suicide bombing is used by the guerrilla fighters having various motives are fighting against the established governments. In different freedom struggles suicide bombing has emerged as potent tool to get rid of foreign occupations and gross injustices. Thus blaming that Islam has anything to do with suicide bombing is just blame game and western propaganda. The western media and their yellow-eyed gurus are sparing no effort to project Islam in unsavory light. The aims and objectives of Jihad are totally misconceived or deliberately distorted by the western countries. Islamic teachings of Jihad forbid harming women, children, elders, noncombatant bystanders, and even animals, trees and crops during war.
Islam is religion of equality and promotes fraternity instead of inequality and violent clashes. “O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).” { Al-Quran 49:13}5Islam is a custodian of Justice. It teaches its followers to dole out justice to the humanity. “Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition.” { Al-Quran 16:90}6
